BA Psychology, Grad Dip Women’s Studies, Accredited Psychotherapist (GT)
I am a Counsellor, Psychotherapist and Creative Therapist and I have worked over the past 20 years in the areas of women and adolescent mental health and wellbeing. I specialise in working with adolescents (10yrs and up) who are struggling with anxiety, self esteem and self identity – including disordered eating, self harm, gender identity and sexuality. My other area of expertise is in working with women experiencing stress, anxiety, burnout and depression.
I have a deep compassion for these particular struggles and have dedicated most of my career to supporting both adolescents and women to empower themselves through increased self awareness and self acceptance. In the past, I have worked in a Women’s Refuge with women and children escaping domestic violence; in a dynamic and creative Youth Centre; as a Senior Drug & Alcohol Counsellor; in a specialist position created from the Gordon Inquiry, working with young people and their families; and as a counsellor for women and adolescents. I have also worked on numerous community arts and therapeutic arts projects.
I am very passionate about the concept of Self Care. I am interested in the ways we do and do not allow ourselves to be nurtured – through both our thoughts and our actions. Often when we are struggling, and most in need of self compassion, is the very time we choose to be hardest on ourselves.
My professional experience and training over the past two decades working with adolescents and women, has included the following areas:
Graduate Diploma Women’s Studies
Accredited Psychotherapist – four years Gestalt Therapy Training
I accept self referrals.
I accept parental referrals.
I accept referrals from General Practitioners and other health care professionals.
